Brittany Watson, Esq.

I grew up in the small town of Mercer, Pennsylvania. My mom is an accountant, and my dad is a dairy farmer. I never planned on becoming a lawyer. I went to Westminster College to obtain a bachelor’s degree in psychology with hopes of pursuing a master’s degree in industrial organizational psychology (think the science behind Human Resources) after graduation. While at Westminster, I worked at a nursing home where I worked with a variety of independent, personal care, skilled, and memory care residents. I still maintain contact with the residents and my former coworkers there today as I value the relationships I have built there. In my freshmen year of college my grandfather passed away, and I witnessed firsthand the probate experience and the havoc a lack of planning can cause.

Due to my experience with my grandfather and nursing home residents, my interest in the probate world was piqued. This led to me interning at a local law firm to see if I would enjoy practicing in probate. After the internship, I haven’t looked back. I went to law school and received my Juris Doctor from The University of Akron School of Law. During my time at Akron, I served as articles editor for the Akron Law Review, externed with the Honorable Amanda Knapp at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and worked with the Honorable Elinore Marsh Stomer at Summit County Probate Court. Given my prior experience, I am passionate about helping families through the probate process whether that be in estate planning or estate administration.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, including my cat, Callie. I love to watch romantic comedies, listen to music, and read all kinds of books, especially historical fiction. I also am a Pirates fan, Let’s go Bucs! (sorry Cincinnati Reds fans).
